HJD CMC Gala 2012
NYU Langone Medical Center’s Hospital for Joint Diseases (HJD) and Center for Musculoskeletal Care (CMC) hosted its annual gala on September 24, 2012, raising over $1.4 million. This year’s event, held at the American Museum of Natural History, honored Jes Staley, chairman of J.P. Morgan’s Corporate and Investment Bank, and H. Michael Belmont, MD, medical director of HJD and associate director of Clinical Affairs in the Division of Rheumatology. Mr. Staley was joined by his wife, Debora, a member of NYU Langone’s Cancer Institute Advisory Board. Nearly 600 guests attended the gala, which was chaired by NYU Langone Trustee and Musculoskeletal Advisory Board Chair Gary D. Cohn, president and COO of Goldman Sachs. Joining him as hosts were physician chairs Steven Abramson, MD, professor of medicine and pathology, vice dean for education, faculty, and academic affairs; Robert I. Grossman, MD, the Saul J. Farber Dean and CEO; Andrew Rosenberg, MD, chief of service, Department of Anesthesiology, HJD; and Joseph Zuckerman, MD, the Walter A. L. Thompson Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery, chair of the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery. One of the featured speakers, patient Debra Brand, paid tribute to Dr. Belmont for the excellent care he provides her.
